Abi here. I’m so thrilled to be able to support teens and parents through understanding their teens’ sexual orientation and gender identity.

I had the pleasure of meeting Casey through the Diversity in Parenting conference. I was so honored to be asked to participate in her Mini Summit as a way to support parents of teens and thus, teens themselves.

This is a wonderful time to check out this Mini Summit.

I don’t know about you, but I have found that parenting while dealing with social distancing brought on my the onslaught of COVID-19 is not easy, but it does lend itself to some interesting conversations. Perhaps this would be a good time to learn more about how to support teens and their sexuality while they are stuck at home with you, and you with them. It is my hope that these talks will provide more nuanced ways to connect with your teen about what’s going on in their lives as you support them in their quest to be their almost adult selves.

Yay! This mini summit looks amazing.

I can’t wait to listen to the other participants’ presentations.

Here’s the official scoop from the organizer, Casey O'Roarty of Joyful Courage:

Parenting through the teen years is HARD! There are SO MANY things to navigate - including supporting our kids through their sexual development and first relationships - GAH!

When asked, parents want help with talking to their teens about topics such as porn, healthy relationships, sexuality, consent - just to name a FEW!

They are looking for a resource that is useful, that empowers them to be the guide their teens need. The Sex Ed for Parents of Teens Mini Summit, presented by Joyful Courage, IS THAT RESOURCE!

Join me and other experts in thoughtful, engaging and REAL conversations about how to be with our teens in a way that is helpful as they move through this special and overwhelming time. I promise you, you don’t want to miss this. This is a super special offer for parents.

Topics include:

  • Defining our values and creating boundaries in our home

  • Staying sex positive while having conversations around consent and contraception

  • Helping our teens develop healthy boundaries and relationships

  • Porn, sexting and dating in the digital world

  • Understanding and supporting LGBTQIQAP youth

You will get five interviews over five days.

The summit runs April 6th - 10th.

If you sign up today, though my link, the price is 29 dollars until the start of the mini summit. If you sign up for the mini summit after it begins, the price jumps to 49 dollars. Ack! Still not a bad price to hear 5+ people speak about important topics but you could save lots by signing up now.

Who I AmI am Abigail “Abi” Weissman, Psy.D. (PSY 27497). I am a clinical psychologist but you might also call me an empowering supporter and a self-love affirmer.

What I DoI help people who wish they could be their full queer, transgender, religious, liberal, activist, polyamorous, and/or kink selves but hold themselves back because they are scared they will be unloved, unemployed, and rejected by their loved ones and communities.

Why?I encourage them to share their deepest wishes so that they can learn to be happy being themselves. I know from my own path to wellness and years of working with LGBTQIQA clients that it is possible to survive the fear of others’ judgment, hurt, and disappointment to live your true self.

Contact Me TodayI believe that loving yourself will change the world for the better! That’s why I hope that you contact me today. I provide individual therapy, relationship, and group therapy; consultation for clinicians and organizations; supervision; and trainings.
